Despite all the criticism on LA Reid for not bailing out Bobby Shmurda, it's doubtful that it was entirely his choice.

How Much Longer Will Bobby Shmurda Stay Behind Bars?

On Thursday, Hip Hop DX posted details from entrepreneur Dame Dash who opened up on Shmurda not receiving $2 million for his bail as he sits behind bars and faces a number of charges. The rapper's music executive didn't give him the money, but that may not be Reid's fault whether it was his decision or not, according to Dash. As it turns out, that's not how the music industry works.

"I think it's unfortunate when someone is as young as he is and people make money off of him, that no one explains to him exactly what the business is," Dash said about Shmurda. "And not understanding that when people are making money off you, once they can't make money off you anymore, they're not your friends no more. They're not looking out for you no more."

Dash added that in this business, there is always money owed somewhere.

"When someone in the music business- an artist always in debt," he said. "They're always giving you an advance against what you're gonna sell. So, what I can see- and again, I don't know exactly what it is. But if you were to ask me and I could give you an educated guess...when you give someone an advance. And then you have to put money into selling the record."
