Arsenal vs Manchester City takes place on Sunday afternoon in the English Premier League, with two of the biggest teams in the EPL trying to gain the advantage as the season progresses towards the final third in. Arsenal have had a disappointing season so far and currently lie in sixth place in the EPL. They have claimed 34 points from their 20 games so far this season, but do have two games in hand over the two teams ahead of them.

If the Gunners can win today against the reigning EPL champions they would move up into fifth place above Everton on goal difference. They would also move within three points of Tottenham in fourth, with still a game in hand over their North London rivals.

The EPL title is long gone for the Gunners but they have a lot of work still to do to claim their Champions League spot for next season. They will need to perform well in their final 18 games of this season and certainly do a lot better than they have done so far to clinch their spot amid increased competition from Spurs and Everton.

Meanwhile, Manchester City currently lie second to their local rivals Manchester United. City find themselves 10 points behind United, following United’s 2-1 home win over Liverpool earlier on Sunday. However, that means City currently have a game in hand and could move back to within seven points if they win today.

However, playing away at the Emirates is never an easy prospect and the intimidating atmosphere from the Arsenal fans is sure to give the London side a slight advantage.
