Real Madrid are constantly being involved in transfer news rumors this January; first it was Ronaldo adding to speculation that he could be leaving at the end of his contract, and now Luka Modric is also being touted to be ready to jump ship.

Modric had an amazing spell at English Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur, and his talents caught the eye of Jose Mourinho and Real Madrid during that explosive spell with the North London team.

Real Madrid splashed out a huge amount of cash on Modric just in August, spending £33 million. However, so far he has not made any real impact at the club, and just months later the former Spurs star looks desperate for a change of scenery to regain his confidence and form.

Modric’s spell in the EPL was so successful that the player would immediately consider moving back there should an offer come in for him, according to numerous rumors. In England’s Daily Mirror newspaper, it is reported that Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are all keeping an eye on the player’s status at the Spanish giants.

Many are urging Real to cut their losses and sell the player now while there is still big interest around the player. Should they wait longer, another season or two, then the player’s value could diminish a lot.

So far this season Modric has only started eight league games for Real, and has only scored one goal.

Some reports have blamed his lack of form on being unable to adapt to life in Spain and he has even reportedly admitted that the drastic change in switching from London to Madrid has been “challenging.”

So will Madrid look to cut their losses and sell Modric on quickly while he can still command a top fee? Or will they give him more time to adjust to life in Spain and find his feet and attacking prowess? Only time will tell.
