There has been speculation that Billy Abbott (Burgess Jenkins) will be killed off in the charity gala fire storyline that is presently happening in Genoa City after a teaser video was released of Billy still inside the burning building.

The role of Billy has been recast on multiple occasions now over the years.

David Tom was the first actor to portray the role of the dashing Abbott after he was rapidly aged since soap operas are known for rapidly aging characters before Ryan Brown took over the role. Then Scott Seymour portrayed Billy very briefly before Billy Miller took on the role. After Miller, Tom took back the role briefly before Jenkins was cast since last year.

Sources from on set are claiming soon-to-be former General Hospital star Jason Thompson will most likely be taking over the role and to explain the drastic physical appearance changes between Jenkins to Thompson another plastic surgery storyline might come into play.

"They're moving forward with or without Jason," an insider dished about the impending recast with the General Hospital star.

Jenkins has not addressed these rumors on social media, but clearly time will tell if he'll still appear on screen as Billy or not.

The Young and the Restless airs on weekdays at 12:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
