Actress Jodie Foster will tell her children the identity of their birth father when they turn 21, a long-time family friend revealed Monday.

Rev. Beverly Bates, mother of late Hollywood producer Randy Stone, said Foster "promised" to tell her children Charles, 14, and Kit, 12, who their father is when they turn 21.

"Randy told me that Jodie said she'll tell the boys who their father is when they're 21," Bates told The Daily Mail.

"He said he could never tell me because Jodie was his best friend. He said 'Mom, I can't discuss this with you.' He told me he had had to sign documents, it was a secret he took to his grave, that was how much he loved Jodie."

Stone has long been rumored to be the father of Foster's sons, according to New York Post. The producer and casting director passed away of heart failure on Feb. 12, 2007, at the age of 48. He was the executive producer of Foster's directorial debut, "Little Man Tate."

Bates said she hopes her son is the father of Foster's children and she has a feeling he is. She added, "I would love to know if Randy is the boys' father, I personally think he gave Jodie the gift, but she will never tell me."

Foster, 50, accepted the Lifetime Achievement award at Sunday's Golden Globes and in her acceptance speech she hinted at her sexual orientation. She built up a hype by saying, "I guess I have a sudden urge to say something that I've never really been able to air in public...a declaration I'm a little nervous about," but then ended off by only admitting that she is single.

She thanked her friend of 20 years Cydney Bernard, whom she called "my heroic co-parent, my ex-partner in love but righteous soul sister in life," and said that she is not one of many celebrities willing to reveal all the details of their lives.

"Now I'm told, apparently that every celebrity is expected to honor the details of their private life with a press conference, a fragrance and a prime-time reality show...No, I'm sorry," she said. "That's just not me. It never was and it never will be."
