Charlie Sheen has officially revealed his HIV-positive status and everyone has an opinion behind his motives for coming clean.

With Hollywood buzzing about an A-list star contracting HIV over the past week, it was only a matter of time before that star revealed himself. Many were guessing it was Sheen, who has a reputation for being a party boy and has had more than a few situations with prostitutes.

Sheen came out as HIV-positive in a new interview with Matt Lauer on NBC's Today Tuesday. He also admitted that he has paid people "into the millions" in hush money to prevent word from spreading and that he has know about his diagnosis for about four years.

The Two and a Half Men star revealed that he has endured "shakedowns" from people expecting money from him, essentially in exchange for keeping quiet.

"Hopefully, with what we are doing today, others may come forward and say, 'Thanks, Charlie, for kicking the door open,'" Sheen said.
