Gossip circling the end of their romantic relationship held that it was Malik who ended things - through a text message.

Both parties have stayed mum on what really happened, but the 22-year-old newly signed RCA Records' singer recently told The FADER he would never disrespect Edwards that way.

"If you could word it exactly this way, I'd be very appreciative," Malik told the interviewer before divulging, "I have more respect for Perrie than to end anything over text message."

The former boy bander even admitted to still loving her.

"I love her a lot, and I always will, and I would never end our relationship over four years like that," he explained, adding, "She knows that, I know that, and the public should know that as well. I don't want to explain why or what I did, I just want the public to know I didn't do that."

Edwards took their split hard initially and even removed every single image of herself with Malik from her Instagram, but now it seems like she is doing better.

The public may never know the exact details of their split, but Malik seems to really want everyone to know he isn't that bad of a guy.
