'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Casting: Amber Heard Now In Running For Anastasia Steele?
Chatter over the film adaptation of E.L. James' saucy book "Fifty Shades of Grey" continues to dominate the web and there now appears to be a new name in the running for the highly coveted role of Anastasia Steele: Amber Heard of the "The Rum Diary."
The Stir reported that while Heard isn't as popular of an actress as an Emma Watson or Kristen Stewart, she does possess a sense of modesty that would help viewers better identify with her for the part of the college graduate opposite Christian Grey.
"Amber Heard is one actress who doesn't shy away from nude scenes - she stripped down in 'The Informers,' 'The Rum Diary,' and 'The Joneses.' Amber also isn't too old to play Ana at age 26," Celeb Gather wrote.
Also to her advantage, the 26-year-old beauty has mesmerizing eyes with a mysterious and innocent look.
In her personal life, the bisexual actress was in a relationship with "Rum Diary" co-star Johnny Depp. However, she reportedly broke it off with the well-known actor after about eight months and moved on to date French model Marie de Villepin.
Other notable actresses who would likely compete with Heard for the female lead include Felicity Jones of "The Worst Witch," Lucy Hale of "Pretty Little Liars," and "Gilmore Girls'" Alexis Bledel, among several others.
The "Fifty Shades of Grey" premise revolves around Steele, who gets herself involved in a dominant and submissive sexual relationship with the S&M-crazed billionaire Christian Grey. Through a mutual "agreement," the two dive into the world of bondage and masochism.
Screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who is in the midst of writing the film script, recently stated that the movie will be staying true to the book with lots of sex and raunchiness, as the producers are looking to obtain an NC-17 rating, according to Style Magazine.
