The famous fashion designer dishes out on her new memoir, My Journey where she openly discusses that she had abortion in 1973 during her affair with the late artist Stephen Weiss. As was previously reported by Us Weekly, Karan had an affair with Weiss while married to her then-husband Mark Karan.

In an interview with Huff Post Live on Friday, the 67-year-old designer revealed, "We weren't sure whose child it was," she said. The fashion guru stated that it was one of the most difficult decisions to make, "but that was the life I was living at the moment in time."

"I said, 'I can't even fathom doing this,' and abortion had just been legalized - it was that week," Karan recalled. "I told Mark about it and I said, 'I really think this is what I have to do, and he agreed with me and supported me completely on it."

According to Us Weekly, Karan revealed that her husband actually knew about the affair, and promised that she would end things with Weiss after she had an abortion. She was sleeping with both men at that time. The couple eventually welcomed a daughter, Gaby, in 1974, but their marriage officially fell apart when she admitted in a therapy session that she was still in love with Weiss.

After all what Karan went through, she is now blessed with 3 children. She also shares her experiences with those who are affected with abortion issues.

"I know so many times that women really go, 'What do I do? How do I handle this?' and I wanted to show that I'm with them," she explained to HuffPost Live. "I totally understand what it's like - I went through it."
