A new report claims Chelsea Handler is vying for Jimmy Fallon's late night gig.
Following a number of questionable moments from Fallon, which were allegedly due to his alcohol habits, a source claims the former Chelsea Lately host is "waiting in the wings."
“Chelsea is rubbing her hands together with glee over Jimmy Fallon’s fall from grace,” an insider told Radar Online on Tuesday. “Remember, Jay Leno was grooming her to take over when he retired and both of them were disappointed when it went to Jimmy.”
And now that Fallon's allegedly "drunken antics are starting to cast a shadow over the show, Chelsea’s informed NBC she’s available to take over any time,” revealed the insider.
Although Handler would likely make a great Tonight Show host, a second report claims there's no truth to rumors of her taking on Fallon's job.
"NBC remains committed to Fallon, just as he does to them and the show. In fact, in August, Fallon signed a new contract that will keep him on as host at least through 2021," Gossip Cop reported on Tuesday. "Furthermore, Handler is going to be quite busy with her own gig. The former 'Chelsea Lately' host has her own Netflix series that will begin streaming in 2016."
In addition, revealed Gossip Cop, Handler said over the summer that she had no interest in taking over for David Letterman on The Late Show, explaining, “I was not interested in going to a network. I was never interested in taking somebody else’s job.”
