The latest iPhone 7 rumor suggests a big change for your headphones.

How Water Resistant Is Apple's Newest iPhone?

iPhone users may have to replace their 3.5mm headphone jack with something else entirely. That's what Japanese blog Mac Otakara (via Refinery29) is reporting as the latest rumor for the iPhone 7. The new iPhone would reportedly not have the usual headphone port - instead, you would either need Bluetooth (wireless) headphones or headphones that are able to be plugged into the Lightning port.

With phone size continuing to decrease (at least in width), the demand for a smaller iPhone means Apple having to potentially make substantial changes to their models.

How Does Apple Music Fare Against Its Music Streaming Competition?

Refinery29 thinks this rumor may be a bogus one, but considering Apple tends to design their products with a specialized port for charging and its own microprocessor, it's not too far off to assume a special headphone system might be in the company's future.

Since the Mac Otakara report was published, major publications like USA Today have picked it up so the rumor may be looking more and more likely.

There are also new rumors of Apple designing the new iPhone to be more water resistant and less susceptible to contaminants. This has been a common complaint with the iPhone and many other smartphones for years.

So when will Apple unveil the iPhone 7? Considering past history, the company will likely introduce it to the world in Fall 2016.
