OnePlus announced in its community forum that the OnePlus 2 is now open for anyone to purchase, the VIP invite code is no longer required. Open-to-all for purchase kicked off on December 5 and the 16GB version of the OnePlus 2 is already sold out. While supplies last, you can still grab a 64GB variant of the OnePlus 2 phone or a 16GB One Plus X smartphone, only until Dec. 7. Timed perfectly to coincide with the holidays, OnePlus is also offering 50 percent off of its 2 StyleSwap Covers to protect your OnePlus 2 and 90 percent off select Select OnePlus One phone accessories. All orders placed by Dec. 7 are guaranteed to ship and be in your hands for the holidays.

The Chinese based OnePlus company founded in 2013 and had a successful run with the 2014 debut release of its invite-only OnePlus One Android OS phone. December 17 marks the company's second anniversary and the sales ban lift for the OnePlus 2 is an early holiday gift to potential buyers who weren't able to get an invite code. Sporting comparative specs at a competitive price, the OnePlus One phone was dubbed the "Flagship killer" and played rival to many smartphones on the market in its prime, including the Samsung Galaxy S5. The OnePlus One invite code system increased demand and gave owners of the device an exclusive feel, however, OnePlus expressed the reason why it managed its phone sales that way.

"The invite system has been crucial to letting us scale our operations and has given our fans a unique way to share OnePlus with the people in their lives. But we are always trying to enhance the OnePlus experience for you and taking risks to push ourselves and show real improvements. That's why we're making the OnePlus 2 invite-free ... forever!," OnePlus said in its official forum about its brand's outlook.
