They say animals are excellent judges of character. So when a bald eagle lunged at presidential candidate, Donald Trump, we can all agree that the animal was trying to prove a point.

According to ABC, the close call happened during a shoot with TIME magazine last August. The People of the Year runner up agreed to pose with a 27-year-old bald eagle named "Uncle Sam" for the magazine's cover story.

In addition, TIME posted a photo of Trump with the eagle on Instagram with a caption, "I don’t think the people running for office are real,” says Donald Trump in an interview with TIME magazine. “They have to throw a lot of consultants away and be themselves. I think it is one of the things that has helped me.” Trump is on the cover of TIME this week.
