The lads of One Direction are presently enjoying some downtime for the holiday season after doing plenty of promo for their album Made In The A.M., which released last month.

The band has a few more commitments before the much-talked about temporary break officially begins, but it seems pretty clear what Liam Payne will be up to during the hiatus upon its commencement: songwriting. He has mentioned it before as his band's tour came to an end.

Payne loves songwriting and has penned loads of tracks for himself and his bandmates as well as other acts. One of those other acts is another boy band so he is kind of sticking to his roots.

Payne revealed on Twitter Monday that he co-penned a track with longtime 1D collaborator Jamie Scott for Irish boy band HomeTown.

The song is called "The Night We Met" and has actually been out for over a month in HomeTown's homeland, but due to music rights it took a bit of time to get it out elsewhere.

"Listen loud and enjoy!" Payne gushed about the track, which has a music video that you can watch below.

HomeTown is made up of six dreamy Irish lads ranging in age from 18 to 22--it seems Payne is definitely sharing his songwriting talents with guys going through similar things he has experienced.

Plus, Payne is working with fellow Columbia Records recording artist Juicy J too so he is expanding beyond just collaborating with fellow boy band members. Earlier this month the rapper tweeted the music he worked on with Payne is "coming soon."

Color us intrigued for everything Payne has on the way outside of 1D! We hope he'll work with the Irish boy band again in the future too since "The Night We Met" sounds incredible!
