A murder plot formed by two young fifth graders was stopped on Thursday when another student told a school employee of their plans.

This happened at the Fort Colville Elementary School in Colville, Washington on Feb. 14.

According to The Examiner, the two boys, ages 10 and 11, had a stolen semi-automatic gun, an ammunition clip and a knife in their possession, as part of the plan.

They told authorities that their specific target to kill was a young girl along with six other students. Part of their plot involved luring the girl off of school grounds. The older boy would then stab her with their 3 ¼-inch knife while the 10-year-old would keep others away with a .45-caliber Remington 1911 handgun. It was revealed that the younger boy dated the young girl and the 11-year-old felt that she had teased him.

Both boys brought the weapons with them to school and offered $80 to another student to not reveal their murder plot to anyone else. They planned to murder the other kids outside of school grounds as well.

When the boys were brought to the courthouse, the older boy was supposedly overheard saying that the younger boy would kill anyone who blabbed about them having weapons. "I don't care; when I get out of jail I'm going to come back and kill them," the boy purportedly said.

The handgun may have belonged to the older boy's brother and was believed to have been taken from his room. The older brother is also a minor.

The plot that these two boys had put together was in the works for quite some time.

Unlike the mass shootings last December at an elementary school in Newtown, CT, this was fortunately a case where no one was hurt, thanks in part to one student's decision to tell someone right away.
