Last time it was Dubai, this time it might be Cuba, if Fast and Furious 8 gets permissions to film.

Vin Diesel Confirms Fast 8 To Be Set In New York City?

Variety reported that Fast and Furious 8 is set to take those hot wheels to Cuba. An insider from Universal Studios spoke to the publication. "Universal Pictures is currently in the process of seeking approval from the United States and Cuban governments to explore shooting a portion of the next installment of the 'Fast & Furious' series in Cuba," the spokeswoman said.

This might have also been encouraged in light of the recent positive developments between the U.S. and Cuba.

Paul Walker's Character To Be Replaced By Brother, Cody, In Furious 7 Sequel?

John Kavulich, a senior policy adviser to the U.S.-Cuba Trade and Economic Council, also spoke to the publication about why the mega franchise might have set its eyes on Cuba.

"Cuba is a land that many know about, but few have seen," said Kavulich. "These productions are hoping to capitalize on the increased interest in Cuba."

Cuba would make for a pretty gritty and exciting setting for the film but this wouldn't mean that Fast and Furious 8 will be entirely set in Cuba, most likely it will go the route of Furious 7, part of which took place outside America, in Dubai. Also there have been many rumors surrounding Fast and Furious 8 being set in New York.

Fast and Furious 8 will be released on April 15, 2017.

Furious 7 hit theaters on April 3, 2015.
