Police arrested a Texas woman and charged her with a misdemeanor count of abuse for calling 911 on Feb. 11 and asking to have cigarettes delivered to her home, according to The Associated Press.

Hood County sheriff Lt. Kathy Jividen said 48-year-old Gransbury resident Linda White - whose mug shot went viral - was "very intoxicated" when she made the phone call earlier in the month. The caller was then visited by two deputies who arrested her. She was booked on a charge of abusing 911, a misdemeanor punishable by up to $2,000 and 180 days in jail, but was released six hours later from the Hood County jail on a $1,000 bond.

White was with her boyfriend when she made the phone call and placed it thinking the whole situation was humorous. She told police she "thought it was funny to call 9-1-1 for cigarettes."

"We were just kicking it in the back yard -- a few beers too many," she said. "Next thing you know, we're out of cigarettes. Well, I didn't want to drive to town. ... I was drunk, you know, but in my back yard. Who's the safest person to call? Your police department, I thought."

White on Tuesday apologized and said she regretted calling 911 and telling the operator "I need some cigarettes." She said, "I am deeply sorry for what I did. I'm embarrassed. It's not me," before adding, "It is kind of funny."

The sheriff's office was not amused by the incident. Hood County Chief Deputy Biff Temple said, "A call for deputies to bring cigarettes to the resident is not an emergency call."
