Following what appeared to be a tense conversation with friends, in which McKinney was put on the spot about when he'd get down on one knee, McKinney proposed to Bookout, the mother of his daughter Jayde, on the beach in Los Angeles.
“My nerves went crazy right as I was about to do it,” McKinney revealed during a Facebook Q&A, via MTV News. “But I was pretty calm all day long.”

Also during the chat, McKinney addressed a comment made by Bookout, which seemed to hint that she was prepared to end their years-long relationship if he didn't step up and ask for her hand in marriage.
“You get to see a small portion of it,” he explained. “Don’t get it twisted. And that comment was about that conversation at the moment, not ending our relationship.”
Although Bookout and McKinney “have not set a date” for their upcoming wedding quite yet, McKinney said he was hoping for a honeymoon somewhere warm.
“I’m saying for Bora Bora or Maldives,” he revealed. “As long as I can just be in one of those tiki huts out on the ocean. Hell, I don’t care if it’s in Mexico.”
