Musician and singer Trent Reznor confirmed this week that Nine Inch Nails will return to the stage with a brand new summer tour line-up.

The 47-year-old front man posted a message on his Twitter account on Monday with some of the details of the group's new tour.

"Nine Inch Nails are touring this year," Reznor said in a statement linked to his social media page. "I was working with Adrian Belew on some musical ideas, which led to some discussion on performing, which led to some beard-scratching, which (many steps later) led to the decision to re-think the idea of what Nine Inch Nails could be, and the idea of playing a show. Calls were made to some friends, lots of new ideas were discussed, and a show was booked ... which led to another, which somehow led to a lot of shows."

Appearing alongside Reznor for the new tour dates will be Eric Avery of Jane's Addiction, King Crimson's Adrian Belew and Josh Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv alongside long-term collaborators Alessandro Cortini and Ilan Rubin.

Nine Inch Nails has been apart since the band went on hiatus in 2009.

Reznor has stayed busy since he took the time off from the band.

He has worked on the movie soundtrack for The Social Network with co-composer Atticus Ross.

The film work lead to Reznor's first Oscar nomination where he credited director David Fincher.

"When David approached us to write the score for The Social Network we were intrigued and excited to see what we could bring to the project - but truly couldn't imagine it would lead to an Oscar nomination," Reznor said in a statement reported by MTV News. " We are extremely grateful to the Academy and very proud to have contributed to David's vision."

Reznor is also a part of the new band How To Destroy Angels which will release their debut album Welcome Oblivion on March 5, according to Rolling Stone Magazine.

Nine Inch Nails currently have no live dates confirmed with an announcement expected in the near future.
