Prior to promoting the show, Butler re-tweeted a couple of messages from Hudgens, which spoke of her father's passing. They read, "I am so sad to say that last night my daddy, Greg passed away from stage 4 cancer. Thank you to everyone who kept him in your prayers," and, "Tonight, I do the show in his honor."

Then, as Grease Live aired on FOX, Butler shared his thoughts on Hudgens' performance.
