One man is dead and another hurt after a driver opened fire into a crowd of people gathered around the tour bus of rapper French Montana in Philadelphia on Thursday.

A group of people gathered around Montana's bus as it arrived at a hotel after his concert at the Theatre of Living Arts. An unknown assailant opened fire on the crowd and drove away.

The drive-by shooting left a 27-year-old man dead from a gunshot to the abdomen and another man wounded with a bullet to his shoulder. The names of the victims have not been released, according to The Huffington Post.

Authorities said they didn't believe Montana or members of his crew were specifically targeted by the shooting, and that neither of the victims were connected to the rapper.

Chief Inspector Scott Smalls stated that three people are reportedly in custody for links to the incident, but there is no confirmation at this time that any of them is the shooter that is responsible for the attack.

"We did find seven spent shell casings, which indicates that at least seven shots were fired from a semiautomatic handgun," Smalls said, according to MyFoxPhilly. "Now, we don't know if that's from the shooter, who actually killed and injured those two people, or it was from - some information we're getting, there was a possibility somebody from the bus or from the crowd returned fire."

The Moroccan rapper, born Karim Kharbouch, posted photos on Twitter showing a police officer interviewing a person after the shooting, and also pictures of himself with rapper Meek Mill at the Philadelphia show.

The 28-year-old is currently touring to promote his upcoming debut album, "Excuse My French," which features Nicki Minaj. The album is set to be released on May 21.
