Diesel, who plays Dominic Toretto in the movies and is also a producer for the franchise, has been pretty active about revealing details relating to Fast and Furious 8. Last month, Diesel shared the first promo image of Fast and Furious 8, something of a movie poster.

The image shows New York as the setting for the film with the Empire State Building in the backdrop, revealing that the movie will be hitting theaters and IMAX on April 2017. The tagline excitedly reads: "New Roads Ahead."

While New York will be the main location for the film, Variety reported that Fast and Furious 8 is set to take those hot wheels to Cuba. An insider from Universal Studios spoke to the publication. "Universal Pictures is currently in the process of seeking approval from the United States and Cuban governments to explore shooting a portion of the next installment of the 'Fast & Furious' series in Cuba," the spokeswoman said.

This might have also been encouraged in light of the recent positive developments between the U.S. and Cuba.

While Diesel has already strongly hinted at the movie being set in New York before, even other cast members have stated the same. Michelle Rodriguez has also been dishing about the progress of the project some. In an interview with E!Online she revealed that the filming would begin in New York in the summer of 2016.

Fast and Furious 8 will be released on April 15, 2017.

Furious 7 hit theaters on April 3, 2015.
