$1 Million in Pot On Beach Found in Trash Bags Near Air Force Base [VIDEO]
An estimated $1 million worth of marijuana was found on a Los Angeles beach on Thursday near the Vandenberg Air Force Base, north of Wall Beach.
Homeland Security investigators removed the pot, which was near an overturned boat on the beach, according to the Los Angeles Times.
In a media release press conference video, Col. Nina Armagno said on Thursday that the boat, which was about 20-foot-long, was missing its motor.
"There were no weapons found, there were no personnel found so far," she said. She also added that it appeared someone tried to camouflage the marijuana. The marijuana was discovered in large trash bags covered with surrounding brush.
Armagno said that none of them have gotten too close to the narcotics because it's "a crime scene that has been secured for investigation." There were footprints by the stash, which Armagno said in the media release belonged to two Vandenberg members who discovered the bags.
According to Laist.com, since Homeland Security took over the investigation, there have been no reports of any possible suspects or of anyone possibly arrested or injured.
The Vandenberg Air Force Base is the third largest Air Force base in the world.
