There was unfortunately no killer brought in for the Eugenie Boisfontaine cold case on Killing Fields, but will the show's second season return to Iberville Parish and continue tackling the case?

It appears that the show may investigate a new case in the new season, though the lack of cameras and lights on Iberville Parish doesn't mean that the detectives aren't still working on trying to find and bring in Eugenie's killer. 

In an interview with The Advocate, the detectives involved with the case admitted that their investigation is ongoing, and that things aren't over yet.

"We're still exploring all avenues," Maj. Ronnie Hebert said. "This is not a sprint, it's a marathon. We'll go until we can't go anymore." 

Since the show, detectives have also received several other tips from people in Iberville, which has caused them to find new potential leads to follow up on, increasing the work they're doing to try and find Eugenie's actual killer.  

"Police work cannot be solved in a six-hour series," Detective Aubrey St. Angelo said. "Some of these leads could have validity to them, but it's tough working all our other cases and chasing all the leads on this down, too."  

It is currently unclear if the ongoing investigation will actually be revisited in the new season, but the detectives do still have a lot of work ahead of them. The show ended with them looking into Eugenie's ex-husband, who refused to meet with them in person and insisted he didn't even know she had been murdered until he was called by detectives now. According to the Advocate, he did eventually speak with the detectives face-to-face, but they still had to use their covertly accrued DNA sample, which was inconclusive. 

However, he is currently not a suspect. 

"Until they tell me we have explored every avenue out there and there is no other place we can look, the case will remain active," Hebert said.
