Agents of SHIELD won't come crumbling down when Iron Man and Captain America air their grievances in Civil War.

Cap's (Chris Evans) last solo outing brought Hydra out of the darkness and into the light, leaving Coulson's (Clark Gregg) team in shambles. The events of The Winter Soldier hit Agents of SHIELD like a freight train, but Civil War's fallout will be significantly less dramatic.

"Unlike the second Captain America movie, which affected our show in a way that no movie ever will again, I think that our story now stands on its own than it did in that first year," showrunner Jed Whedon told Entertainment Weekly. "The connections will be much more reverberations in the world that we share and less of a direct tie-in."

As it stands, AoS has plenty of its own plot lines to flesh out. Inhumans are multiplying like rabbits, and the Secret Warriors are working hard to keep the newest member of the powered community out of the hands of Hydra. Now that Hydra has Hive, however, it seems they have an ace in the hole.

Captain America 3 will hit theaters less than a month before SHIELD's season 3 finale, and even if Civil War doesn't put the series through the spin cycle, the final hour will be as tense as ever. If "Bouncing Back"'s flash forward was any indication, viewers will be biting their nails through the credits.

In the meantime, catch Agents of SHIELD Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC. Captain America: Civil War will hit theaters on May 6.
