Questions still remain surrounding the death of Lisa Carter, Nick and Aaron Carter's little sister, but a police report released Thursday shows there were medications for various mental illnesses near the 25-year-old's body.

Ginger Carter, Leslie's stepmother, said "[Leslie had] a long history of mental illness" and seemed depressed the morning before she died, according to an incident report from the Chautauqua County sheriff.

Leslie was staying at her father's home and complained she was "not feeling great" in the morning. She then went to the bathroom and Ginger became concerned when she was in the shower for a long time. When she went and checked on her, she discovered she had fallen in the shower. Ginger helped Leslie into the bed to sleep and eventually brought Leslie's 10-month-old son into the room, "in the hopes that she would wake up and play with the baby."

"Ginger stated that [Leslie] did not wake up but seemed to be okay and just sleeping," the report said. "Ginger states that she looked at [Leslie] and she had all the color to her skin and was breathing. Ginger took the baby out of the room and closed the door."

When Leslie's father arrived home around 4:16 p.m. he discovered Leslie "in the bedroom not breathing or responding," the report said. He attempted CPR and then called 911. Leslie was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Medication to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and anxiety, as well as a muscle relaxant were found near Leslie's body.

When authorities questioned Ginger about the events of that day, she herself seemed to be under the influence of drugs.

"[She had] slurred speech, pin-point pupils, glassy eyes and kept falling asleep," the report said.

Ginger later admitted she had taken as many as six pills including Xanax that day.

"Ginger stated that she is only supposed to take four [pills] but Robert gave her an extra one because of Leslie passing away," the report said.

Authorities are awaiting toxicology reports to determine the cause of Leslie's death.
