Nick Cannon seemed to be dissing his estranged wife Mariah Carey just weeks after it came out that she is engaged to billionaire James Packer. But now he’s clearing the air on whether he really came for Carey in his latest song "Oh Well."

He went on a long Twitter rant just earlier Wednesday morning and said that while he pretty much got no attention for a spoken word project he released about the “corrupt system,” once another one of his songs was released, headlines and rumors swirled that he was coming for Carey.

“The devil is busy!” he added. “We got to learn how to navigate through the sensationalism and lies. #DontBeDistracted.”

He went on to warn fans not to expect any “diss records” from him at all.

“…unless it’s about the GOVERNMENT! LOL.”

He also maintained that there are no issues between him and Carey.

“Stop trying to creative negativity, we will never subscribe to it. We are both VERY happy and have both moved on, so all the outlets reaching for gossip, it’s not 2014 anymore. Do your jobs better! #OldNews”

He went on to say he has nothing but “respect and love” for Carey.

“I will never say anything negative about the mother of my children.”

Rumors that he was slamming Carey came after "Oh Well" was released.

The cryptic lyrics, “Baby girl don’t cry / I won’t lie / Our relationship was a lie / But baby some die / I guess we parted, that’s all / Oh well.”
