Singer Chris Brown opened up to Matt Lauer on the Today show Monday about what he has learned since the 2009 assault incident with his girlfriend, Rihanna, and said he wouldn't repeat it.

Brown, 23, told Lauer that he and Rihanna, her latest album Unapologetic was released in November 2012, are together and are fine, according to Us Weekly. He has said the experience humbled him and he took 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling.

According to the publication, he said of he and Rihanna's relationship,"As far as me and her concerned, she knows my heart and I know her heart. I'm not really focused on the negative."

He said to Lauer of the aftermath of the 2009 incident tha he is  changed man. "From me losing everything, you know, to me having to regain public opinion or whatever it is. But most importantly, you know, knowing that what I did was totally wrong and having to kind of deal with myself and kind of forgive myself in the same breath and being able to apologize to Rihanna and be that man that can be a man, you know?," he said on the show.

Brown also addressed the fights he had with rappers Frank Ocean and with Drake at a New York City club, W.I.P., during the summer of 2012, saying to Lauer it's all a learning process.
