Country singer Julie Roberts made headlines when she surprised fans as a contestant on The Voice Monday, but none of the judges recognized her voice, and did not turn their chair around for her.

Roberts had a hit song back in 2004 entitled Break Down Here. She entered the stage, singing Blake Shelton's God Gave Me You and after Shelton went back and forth with fellow judge Usher during the performance, it still wasn't good enough for him to turn around.

According to reports, Roberts is said to have some type of relationship with Shelton, even know he did not recognize her voice. She was able to snag a record deal at some point in her musical career, and made a Gold album, but lost her record deal. She also lost her house and all her of belongings in a terrible flood, and then was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

When Roberts finished her performance and all the judges turned around, Shelton felt quite emabarrassed for not recognizing her voice.

In May 2010, a flash food rose to the front door of her Nashville home, a residence she shared with her mother, her sister and four dogs. In an interview with The Washington Post back in 2012, she recalled the rain tearing away fthe rooftop and how she watched her Mercedes Benz car wash away. As she and her family stayed upstairs in her condo, they snacked on Cheese Nips and waited for a rescue boat.

Roberts got her start in the music industry as an assistant to the chairman of Universal Music Group Nashville, where she slipped her demo to her boss without him knowing.

"I had always dreamed about having a record deal and I always dreamed about having my own house - a happy house," Roberts said. "And it was all taken away in that one week."

After the show, Roberts released a statement regarding her audition:

"For the last two years, I have been invited to come audition to participate in the show, and this past year, I decided to take a chance and see what would happen if I did. So, I took the first step and went to Memphis, TN last summer to meet with the producers and sing for them. Then, they invited me to move to LA for about 6 weeks to participate in the blind auditions."
