Kurt Kobain's famously outspoken and controversial wife Courtney Love has been approached by a top American talent show about sitting on its panel as a judge and implied it could be on American Idol, according to Wonderland.

The lady rocker would not say specifically which TV show she was in talks with regarding a judge's seat but said she would look forward to bringing her relentless and brutal honesty to such a music competition.

"I don't know if it's gonna happen or not, but they're looking at me to judge one of these talent shows," Love told the online magazine. "Some people go on them and they have butterflies come out of their ass. I'm not saying I'm gonna go on and be a c**t, but I would just be myself."

The 48-year-old lead singer of Hole who is never afraid of telling it like it is, said she would not shy away from being honest should she land a presiding role on the supposed talent show.

"I always said I would never, ever, ever do one, but I'm not talking about the one judging dogs - it's the other one, I don't wanna say the name of it. If Ellen DeGeneres can be a judge, I mean, hello?"

Love, whose net worth has been reported to lie somewhere in excess of $40 million, said she is also busy with her band at the current time. She told Wonderwall that she will release a new single in April as well as about 70 shows during her current tour which will carry the band's dates into the summer.

Love also recently teamed up with REM front man Michael Stipe on actor Johnny Depp's pirate-themed album "Son of Rogue's Gallery" for a song titled "Rio Grande" which was released in February.

Earlier this year Love received some buzz for her cover of Jay-Z's recent hit single "99 Problems" during an understated performance at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah.

YouTube footage from the performance shows Love preface before starting the unusual cover by saying that the version "either sucks or it's genius. I don't know."

Love is also starring as a spokesperson in Njoy e-cigarettes.
