Actress Rachel McAdams is no longer a blonde beauty, as she recently dyed her hair red. The Mean Girl actress made headlines this week after she was photographed on Wednesday out-and-about with a new bright red hair-do, which is likely to be a fashion statement.

"It's a compulsion," she said, according to InStyle. "I'm always changing parts of me."

McAdams was quoted as saying that ever since she was young she always wanted to change her hair color, and that she was willing to do go above and beyond to do so. 

"I was so determined that I dyed my hair with Kool-Aid," she said."Not that pretty, but it is still transforming."

The actress has colored her hair brunette and even pink in the past, and she's not the only actress who has transformed her hair in an auburn/red hair color. Ariel Winter, the Modern Family star adopted a bold new look and decided bright red was the color for her. Zero Dark Thirity actress Jessica Chastain has also been rocking a red look.

Reports indicated that McAdams changed hair only after spliting with ex-boyfriend Michael Sheen in February.

The recently single actress seems to be enjoying her new life as a single woman and was recently pictured on a day out at Disneyland with her parents. The actress casually dressed in jeans, a bright yellow shirt, leather jacket, leather boots, and a baseball cap, according to People Magazine.

McAdams gushed about her love and admiration for her parents, whom she considers role models and her hopes to find love like theirs one day. "I had a great example of love in front of me, and that's probably what makes me such a romantic, because I've seen it firsthand," she told the June 2011 issue of Elle magazine.

McAdams recalled growing up and thinking that a relationship was supposed to be like her parents, but realizing that every couple is different.

"You quickly realize that they're not, and then you have those days when you wonder if you're going to find it for yourself," she said.
