Fans are fighting to save Nashville with a petition that's skyrocketing.

The petition is at a goal of 75,000 signatures at this point. And so far, more than 62,000 have been made.

Just a couple days ago, a post was made on the link on how more than 31,000 signatures were there, so this petition seems to be doing pretty splendidly.

The question is, could this petition actually save the series from cancellation since it was already announced that there won't be a fifth season? It's not guaranteed, but it's also not impossible since it might bring attention to producers.

Meanwhile, ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey explained why the country music drama as well as Castle got canceled from ABC. For the most part, it just appears that these two shows didn't line up for what the network has in store for next season.

"In terms of behind the scenes things that were happening on both Castle and Nashville, the studios in each case were looking for the best creative and financial ways to make room for a ninth season of Castle or a fifth season of Nashville," Dungey said in a report from Entertainment Weekly. "They were definitely engaged in a bunch of conversations at the studio they felt would set them up for the best [chance] of success should they get the order."

"In terms of what we were discussing internally on the network side, it was [what was] best for the schedule and, obviously, looking at ratings, looking at our own planning and looking at some of the new development," she continued. "A lot of those decisions really did come down to the wire, which is a difficult thing about these jobs. You have to weigh and measure a lot of different things."

The season finale of Nashville airs on Wednesday, May 25 at 10 p.m. ET.
