The Olsen twins opened up on their passion for fashion.

On Thursday, Vogue released an interview with Mary-Kate and Ashley who've been working on their design label called The Row. As they present new collections, the sisters revealed what kinds of experiences they want their shoppers to have when they visit their store in Los Angeles.

"It was really important for us that when you walk into the store it wasn't about clothes being shoved in your face," Ashley said. "It was about the experience of walking in, talking in the space, being able to slowly introduce yourself to sweaters and slippers, or maybe a handbag, have an open area for shoes so you can relax, come upstairs, walk through the collections in a space that's calm. Less is more, I believe."

Both Mary-Kate and Ashley said that designer Jacques Grangewas the first person they thought of to work with when they were creating their store.

"We did a lot of research, and I know a few friends who work with him," Mary-Kate said. "I think that the idea of doing a public space was really exciting [to him], especially when we wanted to have not only clothing, but also art and furniture. The way he curates a space, that's really his strength."

As for what they envisioned in their business, the girls had some ideas, but were willing to expand their horizons when more options came along.

"We knew the feeling that we wanted, and we knew what we loved of Jacque's signature pieces, whether it's the wall finishing or the floors or the upholstery," Ashley said. "But I think as soon as we went to the people in Paris where we started picking out the fabrics, it totally opened my mind to the idea of using color in another way."
