The events of Steve McGarrett's near-fatal mission will still be headline news when Hawaii Five-0 returns for season 7.

The seemingly indefatigable Navy SEAL is no stranger to the ER, but, for the first time in six years, the Five-0 leader almost bit the dust (and at 39,000 feet to boot!). Now the proud owner of half of Danny's (Scott Caan) liver, McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin) will shed his hospital gown as the fall run begins.

"What you've got to remember is McGarrett's recovering, so I'm going to start the season with him coming out of the hospital, so it's going to be less than four months," showrunner Peter Lenkov told Entertainment Weekly, indicating that Adam will still be behind bars.

Although McGarrett has faced down death innumerable times in the past, the feeling of the Grim Reaper's icy touch will weigh heavy on his mind as he re-enters the field.

"When somebody has a near-death experience, they start to reflect on their life, and I think that he's going to do that," Lenkov explained. "He's going to look back and say, "What's my legacy here? I almost died, and what do I have? I've lost my father, I've lost my mother, I've lost the woman that I've loved." He just starts to reflect on everything, the choices that he's made and looks for a reason to continue doing what he's doing."

Perhaps Danno will no longer have to dissuade his partner from always kicking down the door, guns blazing. The detective certainly would like a break from feeling like McGarrett is actively trying to end his life (we're positive Danny will bring that roof jumping incident up more than once as the series moves forward).
