A star from The Real Housewives of Atlanta defended Porsha Stewart following claims made by her estranged husband, former NFL quarterback Kordell Stewart.  

Kordell told TMZ one of the reasons he filed for divorce is because he was "forced" to hire a nanny due to Porsha "neglecting her responsibilities to her stepson." Porsha's TRHOA co-star Kandi Burruss debunked the claim. The Grammy Award-winning songwriter told the same gossip website Porsha "never really did anything unless [Kordell] was comfortable with it."

The engaged Atlanta star also said Porsha made sacrifices during her marriage to Kordell.

"I know for a fact that Porsha wants to pursue her signing career and alot of times she would not go to the studio if she needed to be there for her family," Burruss explained.  "So...I don't see that, but hey. I'm not with them all the time."

Kordell's controlling ways was revealed during season 5 of RHOA in an episode titled Strip is a Trip. When the cast headed to Las Vegas without their husbands for a girl's getaway, Porsha declined attending a strip club with the rest of the Atlanta wives because Kordell told her not to go. The topic was brought up in several episodes afterward and the topic led them to visit a marriage counselor, which was shown in the season finale.

Porsha filed a counterclaim to Kordell's divorce petition and agreed in the paperwork that their marriage is "irretrievably broken." She also wrote that her "earning capacity was set back significantly" because she stopped working for two years to care for her stepson Syre.

Porsha spoke out for the first time about Kordell's filing last week, confirming reports that she was shocked about the news.

"Just the entire situation, of course it caught me off guard," Porsha told E! News on April 3. "It's not easy. It's something that I'm struggling with right now."

Porsha confessed that she stopped watching RHOA season 5 because every episode showed the marital discord she experienced with Kordell. She also said she wishes nothing but the best for her estranged husband.
