A new character is making his way into the world of Arrow this fall.

On Wednesday, Entertainment Weekly announced that Rick Gonzalez is set to play DC Comics character Wild Dog in the anticipated fifth season of The CW series.

This character is described as "a new vigilante in Star City whose reckless and cocksure nature prompts Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) to take him under his wing."

Wild Dog is expected to appear in multiple episodes in the new season.

Gonzalez's previous credits include War of the World, Coach Carter and The Rookie. As for television, he made appearances in Rosewood, Mr. Robot and Rush.

Meanwhile, Amell previously told Entertainment Weekly that he's hoping the series will get back to more of its original roots in upcoming episodes.

"When we started Arrow, we were the superpower-less superhero show," Amell said. "Because of our success and because of opportunities that The CW has had, we've had to break away from that original modus operandi a little bit because we were introducing Barry Allen, and in subsequent seasons, we've shepherded some of the Legends of Tomorrow onto their own show."

The actor also dished on the crossover episode that is expected to feature Supergirl. With her appearance, the series is still going to be known for where it came from.

"Even though Supergirl is joining the ranks, there's no new person or new show to introduce this year, and I think as a result of that, we need to get back to focusing on some of the core elements that used to define Arrow," Amell said. "To me, that's hand-to-hand combat, no superpowers, and dealing with the job of cleaning up Star City."

Arrow Season 5 is expected to premiere this fall on The CW.
