This year has been a pretty surprising time for anime fans so far, with unexpected hits and great reboots being released. From the fair number of anime released for far, however, there are those that would most likely be remembered in the years to come.

Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon Crystal Season 3

This anime is a follow-up season to the first two arcs in the Sailor Moon reboot. What makes the current iteration of this beloved anime's remake is the fact that Toei Animation really made it a point to make sure that the quality of the anime is up to par with fans' expectations.

The first two seasons of Crystal were quite controversial due to its seeming lack of production values and a plot that seemed irregular at times. All of these complaints have so far been addressed in the third season. Indeed, Sailor Moon Crystal Season 3 is one anime that must not be missed this year.

Berserk (2016)

Berserk made a name for itself not just because it is ridiculously intense and violent, it was also notable for featuring one of the biggest cliffhangers in anime history, with its 90's series ending at a very critical plot point. After decades, Berserk is once more ready to take the small screen, with a sequel set to begin this July.

Fans of anime that love huge battles and gritty mature, shounen action should not miss this anime. From what could be seen in the previews so far, 2016's Berserk anime series seems like a worthy successor to the 90's classic. What's more, with updated visuals and a plot that is finally being animated, this is one anime that will surely go down in history books once more.

Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress

While the first two anime on this list are based on the classics, this particular title is a product of today's era. Though it shares several elements with a popular title, Attack on Titan, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is nonetheless a must-see anime for this season, simply because of the fact that it is just so entertaining.

Featuring classic shounen elements, good old fashioned fighting and yes, zombies, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is one anime that simply manages to hit the sweet spot among anime fans, with a story that is as intense as it is fun to watch. Oh, and the art is simply beautiful as well, and the soundtrack is simply amazing.
