'The Fosters' Season 4 Spoilers: Creator Reveals Something 'Heartbreaking' About Premiere Episode [VIDEO]
The creator of The Fosters opened up on the season premiere that will delve into heart-wrenching reality.
The first episode of the fourth season will involve the campus going on lockdown after it's discovered that a student brought a gun to school. A situation like this has been one of the most tragic and controversial situations that have happened in real life, something that series creator Bradley Bredeweg opened up on in Saturday's report from TV Line.
When Bredeweg was asked what the most surprising thing he discovered was, he said, "Just the statistics of how often this happens and how it's become a normal part of every teacher's training process. It's almost unimaginable. But it is now a big part of what teachers have to go through in order to teach a class. That breaks my heart."
The creator also explained how everyone is going to be feeling on the series when they find out that they're in danger.
"It's a very scary situation for everyone, as well as our family," Bredeweg said. "When we last left off, we saw Nick in the car right in front of the school, and he does walk onto campus. So it's all hands on deck. It's something no wants to see, especially on a school campus. But, unfortunately, it is a reality in this day and age."
It was also revealed that Callie coming clean about Brandon to her moms will be a "big storyline" this season.
"It is super important," Bredeweg said. "When we first come into the premiere episode, we are dealing with that. Callie is sitting in Lena's office and confronting the moms and coming forward with truths and telling them what really happened. It's a pretty heartbreaking moment."
The Fosters Season 4 premieres on Monday, June 20 at 8 p.m. ET on Freeform.
