A premiere date has been announced for the fifth season of Arrow.

On Friday, Den of Geek revealed that the anticipated new season of The CW series will premiere on Wednesday, October 5 at 8 p.m. ET.

It was also mentioned that a new character named Wild Dog will join the show as a vigilante in Star City.

Meanwhile, Stephen Amell previously opened up to Entertainment Weekly on what he feels like the series needs in upcoming episodes. A lot of craziness has gone down, but he's hoping there will be some moments happening that made the show what it is in the first place.

"When we started Arrow, we were the superpower-less superhero show," Amell said. "Because of our success and because of opportunities that The CW has had, we've had to break away from that original modus operandi a little bit because we were introducing Barry Allen, and in subsequent seasons, we've shepherded some of the Legends of Tomorrow onto their own show."

There is also the matter of Supergirl showing up in a crossover episode, but there's a good chance that that won't change anything about the main characters and its unique storyline.

"Even though Supergirl is joining the ranks, there's no new person or new show to introduce this year, and I think as a result of that, we need to get back to focusing on some of the core elements that used to define Arrow," the actor said. "To me, that's hand-to-hand combat, no superpowers, and dealing with the job of cleaning up Star City."

Arrow has become one of the most popular shows in television having won an IGN Award in 2013 and 2014 for Best TV Action Series. Amell also win in 2013 for Best TV Hero.
