Blizzard has always been pretty clear about its stance on cheating. Indeed, over the past few weeks, a number of players have already been banned worldwide for using cheats in the hyper-popular game Overwatch. Now, a rather similar incident happened in South Korea, but this time, the end of the story is something rather unexpected.

Meet Geguri, a 17-year-old female South Korean pro gamer. She has not been on the pro gaming scene for very long, but her skills are so good, a number of Korean professional Overwatch players accused her of cheating.

Playing as Zarya, Geguri has an impressive 80 percent win rate and a KDA of 6.31. Despite her being new to the professional e-sports scene, she is already considered as one of the highest-ranked Zarya players all over the world.

The cheating allegations started after she dominated matches and beat rivals to qualify for the Nexus Cup. In fact, her critics were so sure that she must be cheating that they said they would quit playing Overwatch professionally if it could be proven that she was not cheating.

Professional player Strobe, who is part of team Dizziness, even took the allegations further, threatening to physically harm the young female gamer.

"If this problem is confirmed as a hack, it would have caused a problem to our career and reputation. How will you take responsibility for that? If there is a problem with our sponsors and such, I may visit Geguri's house with a knife in hand. I am not joking," Strobe stated.

In order to clear her name, Korean site Inven hosted a live stream of Geguri playing as Zarya. Wearing a mask to protect her identity and even crying at the end of the match, Geguri ultimately proved that her stats and performance in the game was simply due to her skills with the keyboard and mouse.

With Geguri's name cleared without any doubt, the professional players who accused her of cheating ultimately stayed true to their word. As of date, Strobe, together with her other accusers, have issued a written apology to the 17-year-old player. They have also quit Overwatch.

Indeed, in the world of FPS games, there are simply times when even professional players could be outmatched.
