'Shame on You' Video: Two Women Shout at Senators' Faces After Gun Control Vote is Blocked, Joe Biden Intervenes [WATCH]
Two women interrupted a session in the Senate on Wednesday shouting "shame on you" when gun control measures, including a proposal to expand background checks for gun buyers, were dismissed by lawmakers.
"Shame on you," the women reportedly shouted.
Vicepresident Joe Biden, who was moderating the vote, asked for immediate order in the room and the women were later expelled from the Capitol, according to CNN.
According to the Huffington Post, the two women that were escorted by police were Patricia Maisch, from Tucson, Arizona, who was present at the shootings that injured former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and killed 6 people and injured 13, and Lori Haas of Richmond, Virginia, whose daughter was shot in the Virginia Tech attacks.
Maisch, has been regarded as a hero in theTucson shootings after she took away gun magazines from the shooter.
"Because they are an embarrassment to this country that they don't' have any compassion or care for people who have been taken brutally from their families," Maisch told CNN on the reasons why she shouted.
The Senate failed to get the 60 votes needed to impose a ban on assault weapons, a ban on high-capacity gun magazines and an expansion into background checks for gun buyers today.
President Barack Obama said in response to the Senate's vote that Wednesday was "a pretty shameful day for Washington."
