Microsoft has confirmed the July 2016 lineup for its exclusive Games with Gold subscription. While the titles for the following month are quite notable, some Xbox fans were left wanting and otherwise underwhelmed.

This coming July, Xbox Games with Gold subscribers would be able to download four games completely free. For the Xbox One, the free games for this month would be The Banner Saga 2, which would be available for download from July 1 to 31, and Tumblestone, which would be downloadable from July 16 to August 15.

On the other hand, Xbox 360 gamers would be able to download Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 from July 1 to 15, followed by Tron: Evolution from July 16 to 31.

While some of the free games, such as Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 were fan favorites during its time, and The Banner Saga 2 is widely considered as a very interesting title, a number of Xbox fans have noted that this coming month's lineup is rather weak.

Adding to this notion was the rumor which emerged during the last few weeks, stating that Rockstar Games' hit title Red Dead Redemption would be included in July 2016's Games with Gold lineup. Unfortunately for fans of the Red Dead series, the game was not offered in this month's Games with Gold list at all.

In a number of online forums, Xbox fans fondly joked that Microsoft's rather weak Games with Gold lineup seems to be encouraging gamers to step outside and enjoy the outdoors on the coming month. Considering that it is indeed Summer, such notions actually make some sense, in a very amusing way.

Also, weak Games with Gold lineups have been released by Microsoft before. During those times, months with weak lineups were usually followed by a month featuring a premium title for free. Thus, Xbox fans are hoping that is would be the case once more, and August would see a AAA title on the Games with Gold list.
