Are Ellen Degeneres and wife Portia de Rossi feuding over plans for a family?

According to a recent report, the 58-year-old talk show host and her actress wife, 43, had engaged in a “bitter fight over starting family," which was reportedly "destroying' their marriage and leading to "some of their nastiest fights yet."

“Portia has always dreamed of becoming a mother and desperately wants to try to carry the child herself,” a source told In Touch Weekly, via Gossip Cop. “But Ellen is absolutely opposed to it. Portia first brought up he topic in an attempt to save their crumbling eight-year marriage. But all it’s done is tear the couple further apart.”

“She really thought a baby would bring them back together. But things are so bad right now that they’re barely speaking. And when they do, it just ends in a blowout fight. No matter how many times they talk about it, they just can’t seem to come to an agreement. Everyone is worried they will split up over this," the source added.

However, according to a Gossip Cop source, the story was simply not true.

Just last week, Degeneres spoke of her sexuality and growing up as a gay person.

"My parents divorced when I was young - they were very different personalities," Degeneres explained during a recent interview with Hello! Magazine, via NZ City. "My mother is a strong woman, sarcastic and sassy, and I learnt how to be a tough woman from her. My dad is a wonderful man but he has a lot of fear and he was overprotective of me. He didn't want me to hurt myself so he wanted me to be nice and quiet all the time and not really argue or speak my opinion. So imagine his challenge of having an openly gay child ... When you're growing up, whatever your environment is, if you don't know any different, that is what it is. I didn't know anything was wrong until I got older and I started doing some soul-searching and read some books. I learnt a lot of lessons the hard way, which is a beautiful way to learn them."

In 2008, Degeneres married Portia de Rossi, and according to the talk show host, her journey to becoming a happy, openly gay person has made their relationship stronger.

"Now I have Portia in my life, I've been forced to grow a great deal, because I've learnt that you can't really get anything from anyone unless you have something to give to them," Degeneres said. "So I come to this relationship as a whole person, which I wasn't ever before. She and I both support each other and we both believe in each other and it's great."
