The next episode of Dragon Ball Super, titled Feelings that Transcend Time - Trunks and Mai, is set to be released in a few days. As much as the title gives the impression that the episode would be character-driven, however, the images in the preview of the episode seems to suggest otherwise.

That is not to say that the relationship between Future Trunks and Future Mai would not be explored, however, as images on the teaser trailer for Episode 51 show Mai having survived the seemingly fatal attack of Black Goku in the current arc's first episode. Indeed, a couple of scenes even seem a bit sweet, including present-day Mai blushing when Future Trunks looks at her.

Perhaps more interesting in the episode, however, is Goku's traditional narration of what is to come. During the teaser trailer, Goku's voice-over alleged that the Z Fighters should travel to the future immediately in order to stop Black Goku's reign of terror there. Though quite brief, the statement does hold a lot of meaning.

For one, it would seem like the Z Fighters themselves would be drawing first blood this time. In a sense, they would be the ones pursuing Black Goku, bringing the fight to him in the future. This is quite different from the usual Dragon Ball fare, where the protagonists are usually depicted as being reactive to a threat.

Also, the images in the preview suggest that Future Trunks would be involved in yet another fight against Black Goku. While the images might be a flashback, the fact that Trunks seems to be holding his own against the villain suggests that he has gotten stronger than before. Hence, with the images in mind, fans are speculating that a rematch between the young Saiyan and the mysterious Black Goku would take place in the next episode.

Dragon Ball Super has been, for the most part, on a roll since the Future Trunks arc started. Indeed, its shift to a more serious tone of storytelling has been warmly received by fans and critics alike. From what could be seen in the next episode's preview, it seems like Dragon Ball Super is still keeping its momentum.
