One Punch Man became a runaway hit with new and veteran fans of action anime because of its honest, satirical take on the shounen genre in general. Though the official release date for the anime's second season has not been released as of yet, the rumor mill has nonetheless been on overdrive, with the latest speculations stating that One Punch Man Season 2 would feature far more episodes than its previous season.

The first season of One Punch Man only ran for a very brief 12 episodes. Despite the short run, however, the series skyrocketed in popularity, with both critics and fans alike lauding the anime for its fresh take on the superhero and action genre. Now, with the second season allegedly being produced, rumors are stating that the next season would, unlike its predecessor, have more than 12 episodes for its run.

As much as this idea is indeed interesting, however, the actual number of episodes that the upcoming second season would feature have not been revealed as of writing. However, considering the average run of a hit anime series, One Punch Man Season 2 would probably feature about 22 to 26 episodes.

If this is indeed the case, the next season of One Punch Man would be able to tackle most of the material that has already been covered in the manga. What's more, considering that the progress of the One Punch Man manga is rather slow due to its original author, ONE, being involved in the creation of another anime series, it would not be surprising at all if One Punch Man Season 2 would feature story arcs that are exclusive to the anime.

One Punch Man continues to gather more fans as its official English dub gets released in North America thanks to Toonami. Currently, the anime is enjoying more critical reviews, as American audiences are given the chance to experience the deconstructed humor and action that could only be provided by an anime like One Punch Man
