There comes a point when enough is enough. For fans of Naruto Shippuden, the time that the anime spent on filler arcs is definitely enough. With Studio Pierrot practically milking the Naruto franchise for years now, it seems like the time has come for a massive change in the anime's storytelling.

Last week's episode, A Special Mission, finally went back to canon. While the irony is downright amusing, numerous viewers were almost surprised that the anime's three main characters finally showed up again. Episode 469 was a complete return to the anime's canon, and it was well appreciated by fans.

Looking at the next episode, titled The Connected Feelings, it would seem like Studio Pierrot is finally listening to the anime's fans. A brief summary of the episode had been leaked, and as far as speculations go, it would seem like Episode 470 would deal with Naruto and Kaguya's battle, which would take place in one of the villain's dimensions.

With Episode 470's summary in mind, it appears like Naruto Shippuden is indeed going back into canon territory. Considering the pace of the anime, Naruto and Kaguya's battle would probably not be finished within one episode. Thus, this point in the anime would actually be a good turning point for the series.

Fan reactions to Naruto Shippuden's canon episodes have largely been successful, and their reception stands in stark contrast to that of the filler episodes in the series. Throughout its rather notorious run, Naruto Shippuden ended up losing a significant number of viewers because of its slow pace and numerous filler episodes.

Last year alone, Naruto fans were up in arms after it was found that less than a dozen episodes were canon during the anime's run in the entire year. The Naruto manga has already ended, so the filler arcs really serve no purpose than to extend the already long-running series.

However, it appears like there have already been enough fillers in the anime. Fans are already demanding that the series must follow the manga up to its conclusion. If Studio Pierrot does not want any more backlash from fans, it would be a very good idea to keep its following episodes canon.
