Adrianne Haslet, Victim of Boston Bombing, to Make 'Dancing with the Stars' Guest Appearance [VIDEO]
A professional dancer who had part of her leg amputated after getting injured in the Boston Marathon bombing will make a guest appearance on Dancing with the Stars next week.
Adrianne Haslet, one of the 264 people injured from the explosion that took place on April 15, said she is "honored" to appear on ABC's reality dance competition. Details of her role in the primetime show have yet to be revealed.
The ballroom dancer said "dancing is my life" and vowed to start training as soon as she is able to, according to Daily Mail.
"I also want to run the marathon next year," she said. "I will crawl across the finish line, literally crawl, if it means I finish it."
DWTS host Tom Bergeron announced during the results show on Tuesday news of Haslet's upcoming guest appearance. He said, "We were all very moved by her inspirational outlook. We'll tell you how we hope to be part of her recovery."
Two weeks before the bombings that took place at the Boston Marathon, Haset was celebrating the return of her husband who came home from his four-month deployment in Afghanistan, where he served as Air Force captain. The couple was walking near the finish line of the marathon when the second explosion went off, according to the news report. At the moment when she saw something was wrong with her foot, Haslet said, "I remember thinking, 'That's so gross,' and being terrified that this is the moment I was going to die."
"A couple of the firemen just said 'she's gonna go, she's gonna go' and I just kept screaming out, 'I'm a ballroom dancer! I'm a ballroom dancer! Please save my foot,' " she said.
She added that not being able to dance the same way she once did makes her "sad and a little angry."
Haslet hopes to get a prosthetic device in the next two months.
"I absolutely want to dance again, and will dance again."
