The grandmother of Hailey Dunn, the 13-year-old Texas cheerleader who disappeared in 2010 and whose remains have been found, said she thinks her relative was murdered.

Dunn's remains were found near Lake J.B. Thomas in Scurry County on March 16 and after DNA studies the Scurry County Sheriff's Office confirmed Friday that the identification for Dunn was positive.

"She was murdered. I had that feeling all along. It's just an emptiness I've had in my stomach all along. When they found the remains in Scurry County, I Knew," Connie Jones, the girl's grandmother, reportedly told bigcountryhomepage.com.

Residents in Colorado City, the girl's hometown, held a vigil for Haily on Friday night. Family, friends, neighbors and those who helped in her search lit candles and prayed at the vigil, according to Bigcountryhomepage.com.

"It's a mix of emotions. You know, we tried for two and a half years to bring her home," one of the searchers, Holly Jenkins, told the paper. "And we're somewhat relieved that she's home. The search is over. But this isn't, this isn't what we wanted."

Authorities continue to investigate the girl's disappearance and the cause of her death.

The body was reportedly found about 20 miles northwest of Colorado City. She went missing on December 28, 2010 and intensive searches were conducted for months to find her.

According to the Daily Mail, more than 100 billboards with her picture were placed in Texas and other states.

Police have named Shawn Adkins, the boyfriend of the girl's mother, as a person of interest in her disappearance but he was never charged.

During the investigation, authorities also accused the girl's mother of lying about the whereabouts of Adkins, who was found at her home. She however pleaded no contest in June 2011 to making a false report to police and the court suspended a 90-day jail term with probation.
