Rumors are high that Microsoft is gearing up to release a new line of Surface devices very soon, with speculations stating that the tech giant would unveil a new flagship device within the next few months.

After the successful run of the Surface Pro 4, which is arguably the most positively-rated device Microsoft has come up with in years, the rumor mill is in full swing about the possibility of the Surface Pro 5 making an appearance very soon.

The Surface Pro 5 Release Date

The release date of the Surface Pro 5 is something that Microsoft has not released any information on as of date. Despite the lack of confirmation from the tech giant, however, fans of the Surface line are speculating that the release of the Surface Pro 5 would happen either late 2016 or 2017. These rumors are based primarily on the speculated specs of the device.

Surface Pro 5 Specs

Though Microsoft has not provided any confirmation about the upcoming device's specifications, rumors are high that the Surface Pro 5 would come in two variations, an entry-level version with a 2K screen and a flagship variant with a 4K screen. The device is also rumored to be equipped with 16Gb of RAM.

What is fueling the release date discrepancy is the rumored processor on the device. According to recent rumors, the Surface Pro 5 would pack Intel's latest processors from the Kaby Lake family. With Intel's latest chip not yet released to the market, a late 2016 release date for the Surface Pro 5 would be rather unlikely.

The Surface Pro 5, Surface Phone and the Surface Book 2

While the release of the Surface Pro 5 and the Surface Book 2 is pretty much confirmed due to the devices' successful performance in the market, the release of another Surface device, the Surface Phone, is also speculated to happen soon.

Rumors about the Surface Phone have been going on for a while now, especially after the failure of Microsoft's last two flagship Lumia devices. Thus, many Microsoft fans are speculating that the tech giant is gearing up for a Surface Phone unveiling soon, as well.

If Microsoft does hold out a little bit for the release of the Surface Pro 5, there would definitely be a chance that the tech giant would unveil the Surface Book 2 and the Surface Phone together with the powerful, popular hybrid device.
