If there's one thing Shadowhunters isn't, it's a skinflint when it comes to doling out Malec scenes. Expect season 2 to be no different.

A beloved 'ship for readers of Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instrument's series, Magnus (Harry Shum, Jr.) and Alec's (Matthew Daddario) romance got off to an early, albeit complicated, start in season 1. Now that their love is out in the open, however, expect the warlock and the nephilim to spend plenty of quality time as the battle against Valentine ramps up this winter.

"I haven't counted but we are deeply invested in Malec," showrunner Todd Slavkin told fans in reference to a preponderance of scenes between the fan-favorite couple. "Lots of great moments ahead."

Shadowhunters has a habit of tweaking the details of Clare's books in major ways, which, on one hand, serves to keep book readers excited and on their toes. On the other, it has some viewers worried that Malec won't survive the winter run. To that sentiment, Slavkin has reassuring words. "Break them up? No way," Slavkin tweeted last week. "They haven't even been on their first date yet..." And that's a scene we definitely want to see!

Although Shadowhunters will place emphasis on their love lives in the upcoming season(s), Magnus and Alec will continue to experience their own, separate character development. You wouldn't want your heroes to become one dimensional, would you? "Alec will absolutely have his own storylines beyond Malec," Slavkin promised. "[Daddario] is crushing it."
